I am announcing my holiday sessions for October and November. They are already half-booked, so if ya want in, give me a shout!

Mini-session details:
$350 includes a 30-45 minute session for up to 6 family members. Each addtional person is $25. Here's the clincher, your session fee INCLUDES the CD of all proofed images from your session in full-resolution!

Early this week I posted a session with a chance to win a free gas gift card for $25 and NOBODY guessed it correctly! I had a heckuvalota answers for "Rock".... umm.. yes, "rock" is part of it... a couple of answers for "Rock on"... which, well, would have been waaaay cool if you were born in the 70's (like me), and one friend guessed "Jaime Rocks".. ha ha!! thanks Mari! I got a good giggle out of that! one guess for "kid rock".... hee hee.. isn't he like "old school" now?

So the correct answer was "Rock Star"! You know, Hanna Montana.... every little girl loves Hanna Montana.. (cept she spelled it in the sand with an actual star, not the word.. which was.. really cool)

man... you guys are not on the ball this week!

I photograph many, many, many 2 year olds and this little man just adored being in front of the camera and knew exactly what to do for each shot!

TJ cut his hair!

I walk into my kitchen to find..

1.) a pair of scissors sitting on my kitchen table (that's odd, I didn't leave them there)..

2.) they are covered in little sandy-blonde hair

3.) there is large clump of hair on the kitchen floor..

4.) TJ is not in sight.

Me.. "TJ... where are you?" expecting to see him with this giant bald spot on his head...

TJ appears, and at first I can't see the spot that he cut (whew! thank goodness!).. then, as I'm brushing through his wolfing hairdo.. I spot it! A little patch of "bangs" that he snipped off.

I know that he was due for a haircut and he must've overheard me saying I was taking him.. then got fed up and decided to take matters into his own hands... Geesh.

These kiddos had to travel a bit to make it to the shoot, but I'm so glad they were able to come! As soon as my new website is finished these guys will be on the homepage. Not only because they are just so irrestibly cute, but their mama dressed them PERFECTLY! bold, bright colors, not matching at all and it worked beautifully! Sometimes it is sooo hard to get across exactly what your child should wear to one of my shoots.. these are perfect examples of what will make me very happy!

Okay.. I promised to post 3 tonight, but dang I am Waaaay tired! TJ's been giving me a run of it lately. He started a new summer camp program and it has him all out of whack. He's just a screaming mess and my head hurts.

Anyways.. here are some updated shots of the kiddos to appease my friends and family so that I don't have to hear "where are the pictures of TJ and Angie?" for at least another week!

and DANG!! I thought my little man was immune from the "cheesy" grin .. but Voila, here it is at 6 years old.

I'm pretty sure that this qualifies as a 10 for cheesiest smile EVER.

Okay, okay..I'm updating the blog!! You know when I get busy because the blog comes to a halt! I promise I will make 3 posts today and tonight to start to catch up!

First post:

This sweet, sweet, gorgeous little gal came for some new images and she had some of THE coolest clothes!! one outfit was from Naartjie (my favorite!), the other were from The Children's Place (yes, you can find really cool clothes at the children's place!), and the other was a combination of items (the pink skirt, black tank, tights from old navy, converse shoes) She looked super cute in everything!

These two sweethearts managed to spot my not-so-well-hidden-as-I-thought-they-were "lollipops" just as we began the session! Oh no! We managed to pull off some great shots despite my apparent attempt to "sabotage" anyway! I loved the sweaters that mom brought, they really looked amazing on the girls (well, they looked amazing in everything)! and after getting some great big hugs at the end of the session, I wanted to take them both home with me!

You know when you were little and your grandma used to pinch your cheeks (in my case, my mom).. well, now I know why. Some children just lend themselves to pinchable cheeks, and this sweet little guy had those perfectly squeezable round little cheeks. Good luck with your new move little J!

My little man may not be able to speak, but he has his own unique way of talking.....
he finds parts of movies or places where there is a particular noise that he might be able to imitate.
Here is a clip of TJ telling me what movie he wants to watch. In the "Bee movie" Barry the bee at one point gets stuck on a tennis ball and screams "Help me!" in slow motion. That's TJ's favorite part, so he will imitate that part to tell me about the movie. For Shrek, well, shrek tends to make some bodily noises (shall we say), so TJ imitates that.

The location was The Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach.. and she even noticed that one of the shots was taken in front of "Gringo's" restaurant! The other green building is "Kono's" breakfast shop. If you haven't been there and waited in that half and hour line (which is well worth it), for your gianormous breakfast, you need to try it!

This sweet little one is just turning 2 and a new little sibling will be arriving! Happy Birthday! I had the opportunity to meet them for a session inside their beautiful home. This was such a treat, as I just love to photograph in new locations!

Look TJ's SURFING!!!

Yesterday, Chris and I swung by the beach to check the surf (because the day prior it had been so perfect it was amazing!), and it happened that the organization "Surfer's Healing" was there holding one of their day-long events for children with autism. They take the children out into the open ocean on a longboard (wearing life vests), and catch a wave! For both the parents and the children it is an amazing experience! The look on the children's faces as they're riding their first wave is just exhiliration and pure glee! As soon as TJ got home from school, we took him straight there and got him a spot to take a ride! I truly thought that TJ would put up a fight and not want to go out, but he went out there on that board like a champ and caught his first wave ever!

As his parents and avid surfers, we couldn't have been more proud and excited for him! It gives us hope that maybe one day he will join us in our love for the sport.

This little one got along soooo well with Angelina! It's no wonder, they both have the same spunky personality! Angie also managed to sneak into the studio while we were shooting, and helped to sing some silly songs along with Little Miss S, who I got a total kick out of! She was such a goofball, she had us laughing the whole session!

Me: "twinkle, twinkle, little doggy...."

Miss S: singing along... then "NOoooooooo.. that's not how it goes." all matter-of-factly.

Twirlin' like a princess!
This cracked me up!! Instead of saying "pop, pop" when popping the bubbles, she hollered "snap, snap!!" (that's a new one!)

Wearin' Daddy's hat! Although this was a struggle to get her to wear it (it's daddy's hat you know.. only daddy is s'posed to wear it), this was one of my favorite images.

Quite content to just make herself at home.. she plopped on the couch completely undirected for this beautiful "pose" at the very end of the session...

She was such a little old soul, I wanted her to stay and play! We'll certainly be awaiting their arrival back from the East coast! We'll miss you guys!

Contest Winner #2!!

With twins any session is such a whirlwind! These two were no exception, but they got a chance to do some running around while I shot their big brother. Then some more running, and more running, and some more running. I had to step up "my game" and bring out the bag of tricks.. what ended up working in the end was just being really, really, really fast with my camera!

Sweet little Miss M is so gorgeous with her curly red hair! She had us all cracking up laughing at her attempt to "blow" the "giant dandelions" (flowers)!

Later during the session, she decided to take a "header" right into the water! Her mom happened to have brought some rainboots, so she changed her clothes, put the rainboots on and let her run loose! She went straight for the water again, so I took my shoes off and (to her surprise) went right in after her!

Her "oh-so-cute with his strawberry blonde curly hair" twin brother Little Mr. F (at several times, he tried to "drink" the water and had to be held back from also going right in!

Big brother J was such a natural in front of the camera! Isn't he so handsome?

I also want to say "thank you for your service" to this brave man, one of our soldiers and heros! He just left for service for one full year! I can't imagine how difficult that must be. I'll be sending him a small book of photos to keep close (and of course to show off his beautiful family to his buddies)

Baby J was all smiles for the camera! Another little Jet Set model that I adored photographing! He even let me give him some hugs... awwww... It's all the baby squishyness that I get now that mine have grown. (have I mentioned that I love what I do?)

I was attacked by a Sea Lion!!

Seriously!!!

Okay, so I have some really fun sessions that I need to post, but I've been busy, busy... so I will get to them in a few!

On Wednesday, I went out for a surf with Chris (the hubby).. I try to get out at least twice a week.... some people go to a gym... I go surfing. keeps me in shape.. kinda sorta.. (not really).

Anyway, I was out at Scripps Pier.. fun day, head-high waves.. clean lines. Suddenly, a sea lion appeared about 30 feet from me.. I was like, oh, cute! Then I realized that he was headed directly AT me!!

There were about a zillion people out in the water (okay, maybe about 60), so I started paddling closer to the "bunch"..

Chris sees me paddling toward him with a Sea Lion hot on my trail and says, "Don't paddle to ME!! I don't want that thing near me!".... okay, yeah... great way to protect your woman! geez..

The Sea Lion drops beneath the surface and ALL Surfers pull their hands and feet out of the water (who the heck wants to get bit, right?)... I'm doing the same, when suddenly Chris hollers, "He's right next to you!"...

I turn to see the Sea Lion bobbing within inches of me and my teeny 6 foot board! I quickly dropped into the ocean and pulled the board up as a shield between me and the Sea Lion. Imagine it's like a stray dog just runs up to you in the street and oggles you.. how freaked out would you be?!

After what felt like 10 minutes of him circling me and my "shield", he bobbed back under the surface, and I quickly plopped back on top of my board.. hands and feet out of the water.

That was it for me.. I caught a wave and went in to find the Sea Lion had gone ashore and was now chasing around the people on the beach.

I'm asked all the time about what to wear to one of my sessions. I do my best to tell my clients what will look best, but it is hard to pull people away from the traditional portrait style, so I'm just gonna show you!

What is it with little boys between 15 months old and 2 1/2 years old that makes them just want to run all over creation? They take their first step and then they're off to the races! Must be that competitive nature built right in. This little guy was a real live energizer bunny (as most are)! and I still had fun photographing him! I just figure that I don't have to work out later on in the day!

This adorable little girl jumped into my arms when I arrived for the shoot! (I just love it when they do that!) I eventually had to give her back to mom, as she wanted to be passed back and forth anyway!

Because, while Angie is prancing around in FRONT of the camera, TJ is usually attached to my hip.

Here's my attempt at a shot of TJ before the ride started. He is riding on one of the creatures that doesn't go up and down. As I'm trying to get a shot of him.. "Aaaahhhh... nooooooo".. he screams for me to come back and hang on to him! We later took him on Splash Mountain.. "TJ was that fun?" "yeah" (his new word)... "wanna go on again"... (frantically shaking his head) "NOOO!"

Chris (the hubby) decided that he needed some new shirts, since he has gained a "little" weight and does not fit into anything else that he owns... (for the most part). While playing around online, he found a website with shirts that had "unique" sayings.

He bought 3 cases of them..

please help me.

some are hilarious...

and some, well, let's just say that he will not be leaving the house with some of the shirts that he bought.

I will try to take a picture each time he has on one of his funny shirts, cause some of them were just meant to be shared.

This is one of the funnier ones!

(I find this hysterical, because I think I hear him ask me this nearly every meal)

Soo this is what happens when you become a mama.. part of your brain breaks off and becomes part of your child's brain. I have two children, therefore, I am missing two parts of my brain.

My case in point.....

I receive a cool new lense.. of course I wanna play with it right away! So I take a shot of Angie fast asleep on the sofa... it's almost time for TJ to come home from school..

Wander outside with camera in hand proceeding to take "incredibly cool" photos...

(I'm just now beginning to realize that I've locked myself out of my house. Hubby is fast asleep upstairs.. probably will not hear me knocking on our thick door.. our doorbell does not work.)

TJ's bus arrives.. TJ is fast asleep as usual... (how in the world do they sleep sitting up?)

I use the bus drivers phone attempting to call sleeping hubby.. to no avail.

I carry cranky-tired TJ off the bus.. camera in one hand, and begin to call from the mail slot to Angelina (poor thing) sleeping on the sofa. She finally wakes up after 5 minutes of calling her, then refuses to open the door for us. TJ is awake now and finds this thoroughly amusing.

I start knocking on a side door, knowing that a knocking is such an irrestible sound to a small child, she just won't be able to help herself and will open it.

plan works and Angie finally opens the door! whew! within seconds, hubby walks downstairs.. "what's going on?"

I love San Diego!!

There are soo many Beach DAYS!!! Ahh... to just lay around on the beach in the middle of April, grab the board, go surf for an hour.. switch on and off with the hubby. This place ROCKS!!

I'll have to admit... I always get the coolest kids to shoot! These guys were a perfect example. They were laid back and ready to have some fun. I'm pretty sure they didn't want the session to end! I didn't either!!

I had the honor of photographing this amazing little boy and his beautiful sisters. This poor little man is surrounded by women, but I've never seen one little guy so in love with his younger siblings before. The happiness surrounding these three was contagious!

Geeeez....What IS it with these little girls (and boys) and the princesses??

How does my little one even KNOW who they are? Two halloweens ago I bought 4 princess dresses for Angie to play dress-up. She's never seen cinderella, beauty and the beast, or snow white (can you say deprived?)... When I finally pulled the dresses out of the tote they had been stashed away in this past summer, she let out this SQUEAL.... it kinda sounded like this "EEEEEEEEE.... CINDELELLA!! OOOOOOO... BELLE!!! YAAAAYYYY!!!" it was so infectious TJ started chanting "Yay!! yay!!" I don't think he knew what he was so excited about.

I know that Angelina has a beautiful guardian angel telling her that she just MUST love Belle!

We have GOT to be among the luckiest people ever to be so close to SeaWorld and having annual passes for a Christmas present. We pop in there at least twice a week! The kids LOVE it! We happened to pop in to see a show or two this day and on the way in were told "shamu rocks is on tonight at 7". Woohoo!! what a surprise!

TJ enjoying the belugas.... TJ wanted to go into the penguin encounter.. he tells me by "sniffing" then saying "Ewwwww.. poopy"... apparently, the penguin building smells pretty bad and TJ remembers well.

TJ at 6 years old:
-absolutely LOVES anything to do with Scooby Doo or SpongeBob

-Still loves to be tickled even until it hurts

-Enjoys playing computer and video games

-Can say "ank ooo" (thank you) and "uhn-dob" (spongebob) AND "ooty-doo" (scooby doo) and a variety of other words! GO TJ!

-Still has those adorable baby dimples when he smiles

-Is not in the least bit modest (we call him nudey-boy)

-Still gives the sweetest kisses and hugs

Since my blogger was down for our move, I evidentally missed posting TJ's birthday. We went to dine with Shamu and then a few days later, TJ received a Kettler car! (sorry buddy, didn't have it in time for your actual birthday-although, I don't think he noticed).

In December, I attended TJ's Holiday Party for his school. There I saw an amazing site! TJ was pedaling a tricycle!! The teacher told me that he had learned from watching the other children. I didn't think that he would ever have the capability to pedal at all, his coordination is quite poor. I am overjoyed at his new accomplishment and very proud of my little man! His new pedal-car is well-deserved!

Coloring is an art form too!

Yes, that's right, coloring is an art, except for when it lands on the walls, or the couch, or the carpet, and won't even come out with a "magic eraser".. but that's another story.....
Angie spends about 2 hours or more per day just sitting and coloring. If she's not coloring in one of her giant books or one of her little books, she is coloring with the computer mouse on "reader rabbit". At 2 1/2 she drew her first happy face and is on to making mickey mouse and stick figures...

Sunburnt!

Well, today I officially got my first California sunburn! I went out to surf on this beautiful 70+ degree day with my husband. I first took out my little 6 foot board and after an hour of not catching any waves, realized that I was WAY too out of shape to ride it. :(

We swung back by the house where I picked up my longboard along with some suncreen, then headed back out. I had, what I like to call, a "mommy" moment, and completely forgot to actually PUT the sunscreen on. At least I caught a ton of waves this time! I am too embarassed to take a picture, so just imagine that I have a light sunburn on my face and neck and a lovely pale line across my neck from where my wetsuit starts. Of course it's too warm to cover it up with a turtleneck.

Well, since I don't have a photo to show you, I'll share a few shots that I took yesterday during a big swell. (no, I do NOT surf gianormous waves like this! these guys are just plain crazy)

I know, I know...........I haven't updated my blog in....
well....
let's just say that it's been a while!
So what's going on?....
As you may have noticed, I have a new name and a new site!
So why the big change? ...
Well, since you asked, ....we made a big move recently to San Diego, California!
Why?
Well, if you've ever been here, then you would know why! It is gorgeous, the weather is warm, the waves are plentiful, and, well... it's just really nice out here!
Where did all of your old blog posts go?
Since I was starting fresh and anew in this big beautiful place, I decided to forgo some of my older posts which included many family beach portraits and am continuing to capture and create images of children similar to that of current fashion photography.
Oh my goodness, who is going to capture images of my family and children now?
I will! I plan to return to South Jersey in late August of this year. During this time I am accepting a limited number of appointments available for my current clients. These slots are limited and I'm already filling up, so if you'd like to book for the month of August, shoot me an email! I will be opening up any more available time slots to new clients in July, so (also) shoot me an email if you would like to get on the waiting list!
What if I will not be in the area during late August?
Well, that's just pooey.... but don't fret, send me a message and I'll send you information on some local friendly photogs!

A snowy day!

A few weeks before christmas we had just a little bit of snow! I let the kids go out and run around in it even though it was getting pretty late. I figured that this would be the last time they could play in the snow before our big move to California!

TJ and Angie both wouldn't stop trying to eat the snow... I don't know how unhealthy for you snow is, but I know it's pretty gross if you've ever tried to melt it!
